The Costs

The up front costs of a petition are not significant.

Currently, the disbursements (that is to say, out of pocket expenses) are as follows:

However, the beauty of a petition is that you get a quick result.  Therefore, your funds will only be tied up for a short time period rather than for the long period that an ordinary civil case takes to resolve.  The professional debtor will be able to string out a 'normal' civil case for many months, not least as the new court forms that you have to serve with a Claim Form invite the debtor to file a defence to the claim.

Our Costs

We charge commission based on the amount recovered from the debtor.  The commission is agreed with you in advance and a number of factors are considered in setting the percentage (including volumes, debt size and so on).  The typical band is between 2% and 5%.

Of course, we would seek to recover from the debtor the whole of any legal costs you incur.  In the vast majority of cases, this is successfully achieved.
